She’s downstairs, she won’t know

‘Lads I got a new a song’. It was Come In Me. It was special.

Before this Sarb had presented songs like Footsteps. This came out of nowhere really.

He told us it was a mad song, and it was only two chords. And it was. And it was.

A song that was authentic. That could come from nowhere but a lad living at home in deepest Southall, West London. A mystical vibe with a subtle build. It captured so much about everything we knew. Addiction. Drugs. A South Asian culture where it’s easier to turn a blind eye, then to accept a truth. It was masterful story telling. As the singer, the subject matter was close to my heart and I felt comfortable wearing it.

Tom and then later Jake and later still Zaki transformed the song into a sprawling beast that grew and then died and then woke up again.

To this day, this is us at our shoe-gazing best live.

The sun’s shining for a change. And these birds have congregated on the large tree that backs on to the garden…….
